Secrets
5 This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. 6 If we claim to have fellowship with him yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live by the truth. 7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin. - 1 John 1:5-7 (NIV)
Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God — this is your spiritual act of worship. 2 Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is — his good, pleasing and perfect will. - Rom 12:1-2 (NIV) Our culture’s moral compass is now spinning as fast as a ceiling fan. What made us blush even 5 years ago has now achieved a “trendy” status. Scary stuff. What’s even more alarming is how deeply the Church has allowed itself to explore ways of stretching their boundaries of freedom. Believe me, I’m all about pushing the cultural envelope for the sake of relevance; but, playing around with what are clearly sinful habits is definitely not a stratagem for Christians to embrace. Never has there been, nor will there ever be, a biblical principal designed to give us all a free pass to incorporate some form of darkness into our lives. In this area there is no grey. God is very aggressive with His low-tolerance-level for sin. There is simply no co-existence available for this.
What trips us up is this crazy idea that our closets have now become our “right-to-privacy”; where the rules have somehow changed. As if we’ve arrived at some sophisticated level of intellectual nirvana that grants us a bizarre immunity to acquired secret sins. There are no scriptural axioms to support this bogus assumption. We have wrongfully adopted heretical half-truths for the sake of humanistic convenience. We’re more concerned about how much we can get away with instead of purposing in our hearts to live as far from the danger zones as possible.
All of these liberalities have choked God’s perfect plan from many of our lives. The blueprints He drafted for each one of us requires clean closets to be fully realized. When we accept Jesus as Lord, our closets are no longer our own. As a matter of fact, they become the very inner sanctum from which we commune with Him. Everything springs up from this space --- our
Sacred Hideaway, if you will. If only we could see how self-inflicting these secrets really are.
This is why I listened to my wife and wrote this song with her. It serves as a sort of wake-up call for this generation; a voice of reason within a mass choir of denial. My hope is for the Body of Christ to one day shut down the stealth engines and begin living fearlessly above the radar.
Lyrics

WHAT ARE WE THINKING
WHAT’S ALL THE WHISPERING
DARE WE JUSTIFY THE DARKER SIDE WE’RE HIDING
IT IS A CANCER
THIS FALLEN NATURE
IT DRAWS US DEEPER IN THOSE SECRET SINS
WE KEEP DENYING…WE KEEP DENYING
WITHIN OUR CLOSETS
CLUTTERED AND PRIVATE
WE GIVE IMMUNITY TO TENDENCIES FORBBIDDEN
WITH NO CONVICTION
THERE’S NO REDEMPTION
WHAT’S KEPT IN THE DARK WILL ALL BE BROUGHT
INTO THE OPEN…INTO THE OPEN
UNDER THE RADAR LIVING UNSEEN
WE’RE PLAYIN’ AROUND WITH OUR LIBERTY
WE WANNA BE STRONG AND BE ALL WE CAN BE
BUT WE’RE ONLY AS WEAK AS THE SECRETS WE KEEP
HIDDEN AGENDAS
ALL BUT CONSUME US
WE LUST FOR FULL CONTROL OF WHAT WE KNOW
CAN BRING US POWER
PREVAILING CONSCIOUS
NUMB, BLIND AND CALLOUSED
FEEDS OUR FANTASIES, WHY CAN’T WE SEE
WE’RE MESSIN’ WITH FIRE
YEAH, WE’RE DANCIN’ IN FIRE
CHORUS
FROM THE CLOSET TO THE ROOTOP
CONFESSION OR DISCOVERY
ONLY TRUTH CAN SET US FREE
CHORUS 2x’s
UNDER THE RADAR…
WE WANNA LIVE STRONG
